It does not affect the observation.
I checked it with the naked eye with a strong light: There is no dust.; There is no balsam separation.; There is no haze on inside of the lens.; It has no fungus on inside of the lens.; It has no scratch.

Phase Contrast-2 ELWD 0.3 hack

The intent was to repurpose this ELWD condenser as a darkfield turret.
The turret arrived before the lens.
Had I more carefully read that it was for inverted Diaphots only,
I would have been better prepared for disappointment.

The Phase Contrast-2 ELWD turret interferes with arched supports in -66 stage casting.
It does however barely fit under an Optiphot-1 stage. The -66 condenser rack pinion cannot be removed from the substage casting
without a special tool to engage 4 notches in the pinion bearing retainer.
Unlike that condensor rack, the substage rack seemingly cannot be removed,
even after removing the stop screw,
by simply continuing to raise or lower the coarse focus.

There are several variations on this, many with bent diaphragm arm, which helps for clearance under stages.
Others have different finishes.
Some specify Axio microscope.
This one has a stiff flip-out pivot.
42mm circular dovetail;
Nikon dovetail is 46mm.

With Substage Condenser Adapter, this conderser focuses well under Optiphot-66 frame, although with a fair amount of chromatice aberration with 60x objectives.
