Somnium VR1 head strap options

My guess:  Somnium strap is probably fine for most,

face mask shape is poor fit for some users (me);
  (I have 62cm head circumference and prominent cheek bones.)

Quest 2 style pop-off headstrap temples:

VR1's strap-attaching pivot arms bend alarmingly before popping loose

VR1 Teardown video is obsolete

• at 0:32, face mask is NOT magnetically attached
• provided 1.5mm hex key is unpleasant to use,
    particularly for USB cable retention removal (not shown)
• IMO, USB cable retention screws should be captive...
• a proper 1.5mm hex driver is wanted in every VR1 owner's toolkit

Alternatively, Frankenquest 2 DAS Adapter (ebay) snaps to DAS, but slides on VR1 pivots.

• Top strap adjustment knob on mine spontaneously collapses.
• Solution:  after proper fit is established, immobilize that knob
  e.g. by adhesive tape or hot glue

VR Flight Sim Guy uses M2 Pro strap:

Pro has smaller and less flexible rear pad than Plus

• VR1 is wider than Quest 2;
  forcing BOBOVR M2 to VR1 temple arms distorts M2 halo appreciably.
• M2 sleeves fit tightly over VR1 temple arms, making adjustments difficult
• that tight fit helps maintain consistent headset fit, once established...

M2 Plus' included Honeycomb Pad helps, but rear counterweight is wanted.
I secured a counterbalance above M2 adjustment knob using JB-Weld:



M2 strap's halo enables VR1 use without face mask (which does not fit me).
